BRIEF INTRODUCTION OF SINGAPORE Dear all,
Most of you should know the existence of this tiny island, called Singapore. Despite her limited land, she carrys about 4 million people. Major races in Singapore includes the Chinese, Malays, Indians and the Eurasians. She's a mulicultural country, famous for her diverse culture and food variaties.
Must-visit attractions :
1. Sentosa -ever poular tourist , you may wish to spend a whole day in this even smaller island.
2. Night Safari .
3.Visit the Chinatown, Little India, Geylang Serai, and Arab Street
4. Visit Geylang for its famous supper : eg like Beef Kuay Teow, Soya Beancurd, Frog-leg Porridge, Oyster Omelette...
5. the FOOD, oh yes... the list starts from Katong Laksa, Chilli Crab, Black/White Pepper Crab, Hainanese Chicken Rice, Nasi Lemak (Changi Village's), Roti Prata (Jalan Kayu's)....Need I say more to make you drool :P
6. If you love to shop for fashion, head towards the ever-changing malls along Orchard Road and Marina Centre. Anuual Great Singapore Sale happens between June to August.
7. If you prefer to shop for gadgets, bargains can be found at Sim Lim Square and Funan Centre.
8. If you wish to know more about the history of Singapore, visit the Museums. Eg Asian Civilisation Museum, Bukit Candu Museum...
9. If you want to know the culture of Singapore, visit the heartlands and to sample the local delights.
10. Off the beaten tracks/venues :
10.1 The Esplanade - theatres- by-the-way, world class concert hall with our acclaimed SSO.
10.2 Botanical Gardens - after a recent revamp, you will find this garden much more serene. SSO occasionally will organise a free outdoor concert in the park, it's nice to have a evening picnic there. Refer Event Calender
10.3 Outlying southern islands : Kusu island, Ubin island, St John island, e Sisters' island, Pulau Hantu and Pualu Semakau. These small islands are about 30-50 mins boat ride from Singapore, they are not as commercialised as Sentosa. Join local environmental awareness group for intertidal walks to learn about the different marine species near our shores.
10.4 Latest hang outs - Dempsey Village, Rochester Park, and Portsdown/Wessex Village
