"DUNCAN---CITY OF TOTEMS" Duncan by LoriPori
Duncan Travel Guide: 12 reviews and 29 photos
On Tuesday, June 2, Hans and I stopped in DUNCAN which is the commercial centre of the Cowichan Valley. The CITY OF TOTEMS is proud of its First Nations Heritage. Yellow Footprints painted on the sidewalk, allow you to take a self-guided tour of the 41 Totem Poles erected around town. You can learn more about the culture of the area's First People, at the QUW'UTSUN Cultural and Conference Centre, which features totem pole carving and other crafts, theatrical presentations and mid-day Salmon BBQ'S. Another top Duncan attraction is the B.C. Forest Discovery Centre, a 40-Hectare park with hiking trails, forestry displays and a steam train. At the B.C. Forest Discovery Centre, located minutes north of Duncan, hike the forest trails, have a picnic and ride the train between exhibits. Bird watchers will also love the Somenos Marsh Wildlife Refuge, the home of more than 200 species of birds.
- Pros:I Loved all the different Totem Poles
- Cons:I didn't get to see all of them

Amazing city of totems! It ,ight be interesting for David (he loves bird watching) by its Somenos Marsh Wildlife Refuge. Thanks Lori for sharing!
Totem poles are fascinating, and it's nice that this town is able to preserve and display so many of them.
Another fascinating place and interesting totems. Lovely!
I love these totems! This is a fascinating page!
What an interesting place. Love your photos of Totems. Greets.
Beautiful Duncan Totem Poles. I only saw a few (fake ones)totem poles in front of... casinos in western USA.
I've always loved totem poles since when I played cowboys and indians as a kid! Looks like a childrens paradise!
