Restaurant Name: Hot House cafe
Perhaps one of the best Sunday Brunch I have ever had was at the HOT HOUSE CAFE'. They had an amazing spread with roast beef, salmon, unbelievable salads, pasta, dessert table and made-to-order omelets. I really wish I could have had a doggy bag for later as you can only eat so much. At $16.95 per person, which doesn't even include your coffee ( extra @ $1.95) it is a little pricey but it is supposed to be an Award Winning Sunday Brunch and excellence comes at a price.

Restaurant Name: Pappas Grill
Our Friday night VT dinner-meeting was held at PAPPAS GRILL in Greektown. We had the whole downstairs to ourselves. Good thing, as we did get a little rowdy later. Just good, clean fun. There was a lot of picture-taking and VT'ers getting to know other VT'ers.
Favorite Dish: Unfortunately, I did not enjoy my meal. I ordered a half roasted chicken @ $12.95. The chicken was greasy and tasteless and I only took a few bites out of it and left the rest on my plate. Along with the chicken was a roasted potato and very dry white rice.

ROL JUI SEAFOOD RESTAURANT: CHINATOWN

Restaurant Name: ROL JUI SEAFOOD RESTAURANT
As it was Sunday and our Canadian Thanksgiving weekend, there wasn't much open in the neighbourhood of the King Edward, so we hired a taxi and went to Chinatown. We picked the ROL JUI SEAFOOD RESTAURANT as it was busy with locals, so it must be good - right!. And it was. The six of us - Hans and I, Berni and Carl, Wendy and Brent - ordered the special combination dinner for five people. It was already 8:00 p.m. and we were all starving. The food came out quickly. First the Hot and Sour Soup and the vegetable Spring rolls. The soup was amazing. Chunks of tofu in a delectable spicy and yet sweet broth. Then came the sizzling beef tenderloin with black pepper in a superb sauce. Next was the baby bochoy with garlic sauce, the B.B.Q. Pork fried rice and the crispy deep fried chicken - all wonderful. I tried to eat with the chopsticks, but could only get one little morsel at a time, so I just dug in with my fork - I'm such a schlep!. Berni and Carl were doing amazingly with their chopsticks - real pros. After dinner, we walked around a bit in Chinatown, but as it was already 9:30 p.m. and Sunday night, most of the stores were already closed for the evening. So we called Ali with the minivan taxi and he returned us to the King Edward.

Restaurant Name: Hernando's Hideaway
Ok, now we have had French, Greek and Chinese so now it was time to have Mexican. Yoona made arrangements for us to meet at HERNANDO'S HIDEAWAY. Hans and I were to meet finally with Funnybeee ( Nancy) and we also got to meet her brother Tristan, who was celebrating his 25th birthday. Also in attendamce was Steve (Spgood) and Marie-France. Another treat was meeting Yoona's friend Guy. We were there first and the waiter ( bearded, jovial & wearing shorts in November) seated us at our reserved table. It was great as we got to see who was walking down the stairs to the restaurant so Hansi would be prepared to "capture" the moment on film I ordered tacos with mexican rice. Hans ordered a chicken sandwich with fries, very non-Mexican. We all shared an order of two pitchers of Sangria which was delicious. And for dessert there was Tristan's birthday cake.

ATXtraveler Tue Mar 18, 2008 18:31 UTC I have never had the opportunity to be in Toronto as a tourist, only on business. Thanks for sharing this page! | kyoub Tue Oct 16, 2007 11:46 UTC It seems as thought Toronto was a great place for a VT meet. Side trips to Niagra Falls and Toronto Island a big plus.Nice photos. | breughel Tue Sep 11, 2007 08:21 UTC Hello Lori. I would also like to have a lake in the back of my garden. No lakes over here only ponds. Have a nice week. | Stephen-KarenConn Fri Jul 27, 2007 16:08 UTC Excellent 5-star tips on one of my favorite cities - although I've only been there once. The glass floor at the CN Tower was scary since I'm afraid of heights. Next time in Toronto I hope to see the islands. |
