ZION NATIONAL PARK

June 21 & 23, 1006
Stayed at Zion Canyon Campground
Legend has it that the Paiute Indians were superstitious about "I-u-goone" - Zion Canyon - and refused to stay there after dark.
You can't help but be awestruck with the magnificent beauty of the canyon, Utah's oldest national park.
You can drive, bicycle or take a tram through Zion. But to really experience Zion's magnificence, hike along the park's trails. There are easy trails and more challenging day hikes. Hans and I, Nel and Jean, opted for one of the easy trails. I do remember it being very hot that day, so even the easy trail was a challenge for us.
Zion National Park is located in Springdale, Utah and is accessible on Scenic Byway 9 from I-15 on the west or by way of US 89 on the east at Mt. Carmel Junction , north of Kanab.
Hans and I must return here some day and also take in Bryce Canyon which we did not have time for. This time I will have my digital camera .
