DISCOVER BALTIMORE | View of Mt. Vernon from our Suite at the Tremont |
A colourful city on the Harbour, BALTIMORE welcomes more than 12 million visitors every year. The various neighbourhoods each with its own history, culture and cuisine, make this city unique. The Inner Harbour is only one of Baltimore's many treasures and the city's most popular maritime neighbourhood. Canton, the once predominantly Polish neighbourhood. Federal Hill with its views from the park at the top of Federal Hill. Fell's Point, a Maritime community with its bounty of ethnic restaurants and pubs. Little Italy with its sizeable number of trattorias and Mount Vernon, the cultural center of Baltimore. I must admit that I was very impressed with this city. I did some research, before we left to go there, but I still wasn't too sure what to expect. Anyone who knows me, knows that I am not crazy about big cities. But visiting Baltimore and seeing all the wonderful Vt'ers that we met there, sure made for a wonderful weekend. |
| | RIDE THE DUCKS A fun way to explore Baltimore from a Duck's-Eye View by land and sea is with RIDE THE DUCKS. Tour Baltimore's most famous landmarks throughout the historic district. See Edgar Allan Poe's grave, the National Aquarium, the Star Spangled Banner House and Fell's Point and much more, then splash down aboard the amphibious duck, into the Inner Harbour for a water tour. These amphibious sightseeing vehicles are converted 1945 Army DUKW's which provide a unique land-to-water tour. You even get a free "Wacky Quacker" to make a lot of quacky noise as you tour around town. What a hoot! You can purchase tickets or board at any of their 16 stops. |
2006 VT BALTOBERFEST I want to take this opportunity to thank our wonderful hosts for the 2006 VT BALTOBERFEST --- Ellen ( Ellielou ) Larry ( Littlesam ) and Frank (Frankcanfly). Baltoberfest was awesome and a HUGE success. Loved the duckpin bowling at Patterson Bowl, Karaoke at Kelly's, Crabfest at L. P. Steamers and dancing at the Latin Palace. Also enjoyed your wonderful city of Baltimore. I also want to thank Hexepatty for all her hard work in arranging rooms for a number of VT'ers at the Tremont Park Hotel. They were wonderful rooms and we all appreciate it very much. | | | 2006 VT Baltoberfest Group Pic |

Nemorino Sun Nov 9, 2008 21:56 UTC I never knew there was any such thing as a Bromo-Seltzer Tower. Too bad it isn't open to the public! | JLBG Thu Nov 6, 2008 21:45 UTC I know that Baltimore is one of the must sees in the USA but I had never the opportunity to visit. Thank you for this great virtual visit! I like the way you give to identify male vs females (crabs of course) | Hikerpark Sun Jun 15, 2008 10:50 UTC Wow, I'm impressed with these tips. And I LOVE Blob's Park. I used to go there a lot! Your homepage is the best on here yet! Fondly, Mark | ViajesdelMundo Sat Mar 15, 2008 18:45 UTC WOW! I'm originally fr Balto, but emigrated to Australia in 1969. Still have family there, so get back occas for steamed crabs. Wish I'd been a VTer at this time for the meet! Also, I worked for the company that did the HARBOR, long before it was built. |
