"SOMERSET KENTUCKY" Somerset by LoriPori
Somerset Travel Guide: 9 reviews and 53 photos
Located between Lake Cumberland and the Daniel Boone National Forest, Somerset has one of the longest, continuous commercial strips, with U. S. 27, the main road through the community, being lined for ten miles with restaurants, shops and hotels.
Somerset architectural gems include the Public Library, once a U.S. Post Office which was built in 1812. Also impressive is the First Baptist Church.
Older structures include the J.M. Perkins House and the Somerset Pharmacy.
Hans and I stayed in Somerset for two days, as we were getting together with our dear friends from Belgium, Johan (Johanl) and Wies who were on vacation and in the area staying with friends.

Love the rainbow behind you in the travelogue pictures! Nice pics....
A nice little place but what I like best are the dam keepers !
Cumberland Falls are very impressive. I liked the Natural Arch. Thanks Lori for getting us to know about this place.
I know natural arches are common out west, but I never knew there was one here in the Midwest. Looks like an interesting place.
An interesting look at a very neat town. We've been through Somerset a few times. Maybe next time we'll stop and see a little more of it. Glad to see you made it to the Natural Arch - an awesome sight.
Somerset looks like a nice place to visit and the natural arch is great. Lovely page, Lori.

Great picturews and interesting reading. Wow, your restaurant tips made me hungry...
Kentucky is a favorite state of mine [Parents lived there] so I was so interested in your insights about Somerset. Looks as though you had a wonderful time in a wonderful state.
