South of Chicago, Illinois but located in Northern Indiana is the city of HAMMOND ( about a mile from Chicago limits ).
Settled in 1851 and incorporated as a city in 1883. Around 1847, the first permanent residents who were German farmers, began to settle in the area between the Grand and Little Calumet Rivers. Due to Hammond's proximity to Lake Michigan, there was much growth in population and industry quickly followed. |

Enjoyed 2007 updates.What a fun experience, Lori. Hansi is in his "element", that's for sure. Kristi, Dave, and Ethan are right there with him. The "jock strap" is such a clever idea. Allan grew up in that area, too. |
