KARLSRUHE | VT Euromeet2008 in Karlsruhe |
Karlsruhe is a city in the south west of Germany, in the Bundesland Baden-Wurtenberg. Located near the French-German border at the foot of the Black Forest and on the Rhine River.
Founded in 1715 as Karlsruhe Palace, the surrounding town became the seat of two of the highest courts in Germany. The founding of the city is closely linked to the construction of the Palace. Karlsruhe Palace was planned with the Palace ( Schloss) at the center and 32 streets radiating out from it like a folding fan.
Karlsruhe, Germany was the site of Euromeet2008. It was a wonderful, and successful meet with over one hundred attendees from all parts of the world.

|  | KARLSRUHE PALACE Built in 1715 as the residence of Margrave Karl Wilhelm of Baden-Durlach, the KARLSRUHE PALACE served as the seat of government of the Baden Dynasty for 200 years.
Saturday, our VT group, went on a walking tour, and the Palace was part of the tour. It was an amazingly beautiful, pastel yellow building, with botanical gardens in the rear and backing onto a large forest. The grounds were huge. |
