What can I say? But I can sing "I left my heart in San Francisco". We absolutely loved San Francisco--from the cable car ride to Fisherman's Wharf (of course we had chowder in a sourdough bowl). We took the ferry to elegant Sausalito with all its quaint shops and restaurants. Enjoyed spectacular views of Golden Gate and the Bay Bridge. And went down "the crookedest street in the world" Lombard Street---TWICE. All in all it was an amazing experience.
I wish I could take credit for this amazing photo of the Golden Gate Bridge, but my Hansie took it.

Your tips brought both good and bad memories back for me. Good- because I loved all the places you recommend, and bad because I lost a diamond ring at Chowders on fishermans wharf- and never got it back _gone- vanished. I left it in the washroom. Boo Hoo!

Glad you are so enthusiastic about San Francisco! I lived and worked in Berkeley for several years in the 1960s, and often crossed to bay to visit San Francisco. Also we used to do live radio broadcasts from Alcatraz when it was occupied by the Indians.
One of the great cities of the world. I've been there twice, and enjoyed it each time. I'll definitely have to go back someday.
