Hans and I have visited BRIELLE on a number of occasions, the latest being September of 2003. Hans' sister and her husband call Brielle their home. It is a small, charming town especially the canals and quaint little shops and distinctive buildings.
July -- 2005. We stayed in Brielle for a week this time. Family from South Africa were staying in town and we wanted to see them as much as possible. We did things with them just about every day, including touring the area of Brielle, such as Rockanje, Oostvoorne, bicycling to Tinte and Zwaartewaal.
The area in and around the town of BRIELLE is peaceful and serene and everywhere are signs of its historic past, including cannons, bastions, the old wall. Here, you can see the Windmill and its reflection in the water.
A short walk brings you to the Brielle HARBOUR At the time we were there, boats of all shapes and sizes were pouring into Brielle for the Blues Festival. It really was a party atmosphere, with many boats decorated with colorful flags and some even double-parked with their friends. In the morning as you walked by, you could even smell the fresh coffee brewing.

i love the replica ships. was there a tour of it, even go out and sail with it? This looks like a nice peaceful place:)
Brielle is a lovely town. Hans' sister lives here and I always enjoy visiting.
LOL...I don;t think I can eat that herring like Hansi! Wow...and that statue of Queen Wilhemina looks so good. ( I would jump beside it, hehehehe)...and that's so nice of ATLC to prepare dinner (that's a 5-star rating!)
Lovely page on a lovely town. Cruising the canals near Brielle must have been great fun. I wouldn't mind even living on a boat. I wonder what Queen Wilhelmina is pointing at?
Excellent Brielle page complete with superb photographs! Canal cruise certainly sounds great! Canal-Lift Bridge and Prince Admirael certainly look amazing to us. Thanks for sharing them. ~ho & pang
Charming little town I never heard about! Beautiful canals and lift-bridges. Prince Admirael looks like it has just arrived out of centures... Thanks Lori for the virtual tour!
Nice to be connected to people who own a cruise boat Lori! The canals look wonderful here :) so relaxing!
Love those canal boats. Love 'bami' too--Holland America Line serves it every cruise on their "Dutch" nights in the dining room! Nice page.
Seeing the sights from a private boat sure looks like the way to go. And having dinner at a VT friend's house is pretty good too.
Another wonderful page of yours, Lori. I'd love to taste that delicious herring and the boat trip along the canals sounds just great.
The herring alone makes the visit to Brielle worth to be done! Sailing the canals must have been a great pleasure too!
