ATHENS 38 YEARS LATER

LORIPORI RETURNS TO ATHENS

The Parthenon
I came to Athens as a student in 1969. Then you could still go inside the venerable columns of the mighty Parthenon. My how things have changed. Now it is all roped off and someone actually blows a whistle at you if you dare come near it - which is the way it should be I guess. People have ruined it over the years. It's been standing this long and should be standing for generations to come.

Hans and I were here on a number of occasions during this vacation, but this is the day we planned to go to the Acropolis.
I am glad we waited until the end of our vacation, as the first week we were here, it rained just about every day.
We picked a warm, sunny day - perfect for exploring and walking up hills and steps, which there is plenty of at the Acropolis. Would it be the same as I remembered. It seemed small to me then and when you're young you don't appreciate what you're seeing anyway. This time I can share this experience with Hans. It truly is a magical place. We just sat there on a bench and looked at the Parthenon in awe as many others were doing.
Come along with Hans and I to experience not only the Acropolis but many other wonders that Athens has to offer.

Athens Acropolis is the most popular tourist attraction in Athens. Your pages certainly bring back fond memories of our trip to that city many years ago! We certainly hope to visit the city of Athens again in the near future. ~ho & pang

Loved that picture of you by the Parthenon from years past --- very nostalgic...just like a Caryatid maiden! I likes those statues a lot and almost had them in my backyard (landscape) but it wastoo expensive...Norman :)

By coincidence I also spent some time in Athens in 1969. Perhaps we were there at the same time? -- In the 1970s I went back to Athens with my wife and two very small children, but haven't returned since then.

How nice to revisit and see Parthenon after so many years! And sounds like you had a great VT-meeting! I have never been to Athens, but hope to visit one day.
