    RODINNY RESTAURANT: CZECH CUISINE
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • Restaurant Name: RODINNY RESTAURANT

    Sunday, August 7, 2005
As Hans, Sharrie and I were getting hungry after a full afternoon of walking and touring Prague, we came upon this lovely local restaurant RODINNY RESTAURANT. The "Menu of the Day" appealed to us. The Menu for 180 Czk included Potato Soup, Roast pork with cabbage and dumplings. The Menu for 210 Czk included Cabbage Soup, Beef Goulash with Dumplings and Sweet ( Dessert ).

Favorite Dish: Hans and I both opted for the first Menu. The Potato Soup was incredible with big chunks of potato in a wonderful thick broth. The Pork chops were sliced thin and in a light gravy, while the Dumplings tasted more like a heavy bread ( they weren't at all like my Mom made them ). The cabbage was red and sweet -- not bad!
Total Bill for three persons was 756 Czk ( $40.00 Cdn )
Tip of 68 Czk was included in the bill.

    CAFE'& BAR: CAFE' & BAR
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • Restaurant Name: CAFE'& BAR

Located on one of the streets leading to the OLD TOWN SQUARE is this CAFE' & BAR. The Menu posted outside drew our attention, so we went in. It was a small cozy place that didn't hold a lot of people but the staff were friendly and helpful and spoke a little English.

Favorite Dish: I had the soup of the day which was a delicious thick vegetable soup, a hamburger which was absolutely wonderful and fries with a Sprite to drink. Hans had the fish fingers, soup of the day, fries and dessert with a Sprite to drink. Both menus were 175 CZK ( $9.00 Cdn ) Total bill was 460 CZK ( $23.50 Cdn ). Oh yes, the waitress put a nice bowl of Czech bread on the table which we each had one slice of. When I looked at the bill there was a charge of 60 CZK ( $3.00 Cdn) for the bread.

    JALAPENOS: MEXICAN & AMERICAN
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • Restaurant Name: JALAPENOS

It's now Wednesday and it's lunch time. What shall we have today?? We just left the Jewish Quarter and Hans and I are getting hungry. A little Mexican & American Bar/Restaurant catches our eye. JALAPENOS looks good and since my last hamburger was delicious, I thought I would do that again -- they usually can't mess up a hamburger. Hans opted for a ham/cheese/egg omelet with a side of french fries. We both had a Sprite. Total bill 326CZK ( $17.00 )

    BOURBON CLUB: NEIGHBOURHOOD RESTAURANT
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • Restaurant Name: BOURBON CLUB

After a long day of walking and touring Prague, we decided to just go out to eat in the neighbourhood of our apartment. There wasn't a lot to choose from. We decided on the BOURBON CLUB.
We were seated at the back of the restaurant and a young Czech woman, who didn't speak a word of English came over to us. Thank goodness the menu was in five languages. As we wanted to have something special we both ordered the Beefsteak @ 175CZK. and we both ordered a salad which was extra @ 50 CZK. For drinks -- two coffees and water. OK. So our meal arrives. The salad was a whole plate of tomatoes cut up with a dab or two of yellow peppers and cucumber. Our steak tasted like it was from an old cow. Needless to say, we were very disappointed. Total of the bill was 510CZK

    STREET KIOSKS: STREET KIOSKS
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • Restaurant Name: STREET KIOSKS

Scattered throughout Prague, you will find STREET KIOSKS which serve fast food to go. We tried it once and it was actually pretty good. We both had a fried chicken sandwich and it came with a full bottle of Sprite. The bun was fresh and along with the chicken there was lettuce and garnishings. For 50CZK each ( $2.50 Cdn ) it was a pretty good deal. This kiosk was located in Wenceslas Square. They also served jumbo hot dogs and hamburgers.

Outstanding page of Prague. The architecture is so beautiful - classic as well as the modern "Dancing House".
