LORIPORI'S WALKING TOUR OF PRAGUE

by LoriPori - last update: Aug 15, 2006

INTRODUCTORY WALK

Prague at Dusk
August 6 to 11, 2005
This Introductory Walk"LORIPORI'S WALKING TOUR OF PRAGUE" acquaints you with Prague, or Praha, its History and monuments. We begin our tour on "Old Town Square" with its famous "Astronomical Clock"adorning the Old Town Hall. Next are the buildings and monuments that circle the Square, like "Our Lady Before Tyn" and "St. Nicholas Church - Old Town. We then head for the Jewish Quarter" and the "Old New Synagogue and the "Kafka" Statue. From "Charles Bridge" we view the spectacular panorama formed by Prague Castle and the Lesser Quarter. Our walk then commences to "Wenceslas Square" the heart of modern Prague and the place where Czechs love to gather. Now we will cross over the "Vitava River" via the Charles Bridge, famous for its combination of Gothic construction and baroque Statues. We will then get to the other side of the Vitava River and "Prague Castle" and "St. Vitus Cathedral".
We will also see many other visual splendours that Prague has to offer -- too numerous to mention. So come along with LORIPORI and WAALEWIENER and we will show you this wonderful city of "PRAGUE"
Astronomical Clock

THE ASTRONOMICAL CLOCK

The Old Town Square's top draw is the famous ASTRONOMICAL CLOCK adorning the Old Town Tower. Constructed in 1410, visitors who flock into the Square, are often astounded by the clock's detailed mechanical movements which include a bell tolling skeleton, a crowing rooster and the twelve apostles circling the clock face.

THE VITAVA RIVER

Now we will cross over the VITAVA RIVER or Moldau via the Charles Bridge, famous for its combination of Gothic construction and Barocque Statues.
"The River Vitava gives the city life both spiritually and practically. Since 920 a 'free highway on water' it is honoured and celebrated as 'the girdle of Prague, the beautiful'. Even today the view of the town from the deck of a boat has its magic." -- V. Dudak
A pleasant relaxing way to see Prague from a different prospective is on a River Boat Tour offered by many different Tour Groups.

Excellent page on this wonderful city. Beautiful pictures of great architecture, of which I especially liked the Minute House. I agree that knedliczki are more like cooked bread than dumplings. Thanks for the warning about the boat trip.
