Our day started with a wake-up call at 4 a.m. We were picked up at 5:15 a.m. and brought to the airport. After a short 40 minute flight, we arrived at the airport on Maui. Polynesian Adventure Tour guide was Merle (The Pearl) originally from Arkansas.
One of the prettiest stops was in Keanae on the northeast side of Maui. Hana was a quaint but pricy little town on the eastern coast of Maui. We stopped to pick up some shredded pork sandwiches and Merle took us to a nice picnic area to eat them.
Stopped at Ohe'o Gulch (Seven Pools). It was a very steep trail down so I only went half way. Soon we were on a narrow road along the southern coast. It was awesome ---beautiful scenery. It was a very narrow, bumpy and dusty road with very steep cliffs plunging down to the ocean. A very hair-raising experience but --- LOVED IT!!!!!
Stopped at Maui's Winery where they let us have 4 tastings each (Should have had those before the road trip). Merle got us back to the airport around 5 p.m. Plane departed at 6:10 p.m. Back at the Hilton around 8 p.m. We crashed (fell asleep) shortly after that. |
