ESTORIL

Bathed by the Atlantic Ocean, the Estoril Coast stretches all the way from the Tagus Estuary to the Guincho Beach. Thanks to its close proximity to Lisbon and therefore quickly and easily accessible, ESTORIL is well served by rail and road, most notably the scenic coast road known as the Estrada Marginal.
The Estoril coast's climate is temperate throughout the year and never subject to any extreme weather conditions. Estoril has wonderful beaches like "Praia de Tamariz" near the Estoril Train Station.
Estoril has excellent restaurants offering a wide choice of fish and seafood. Our VT group had dinner here Saturday at a restaurant near the Estoril Casino.
Hans and I walked a few times to Estoril from Cascais, as a continuous promenade runs from Sao Joao de Estoril to Cascais.

I have booked a plane ticket for Portugal for a week next year so finally I will go there. But it would have been nice to be there for the VT-meeting and the nice dinner in Estoril!

Can't believe that the tourist office girl was so ignorant... but then, maybe visitors want to know more about party and casino and F1? Haha, good and magic Jean Louis :-) And how did you manage to get restaurant photos without people?

Excellent travelogues, Lori. What a fiasco at the travel bureau, but great that with help you discovered it is now called "Chalet Barros". Loved tip about you and Hansi walking the Promenade and eating the ice cream. Enjoy that image.

Lori, gorgeous little page about Estoril. Isn't the Circuito Activo a "things to do" in its real meaning? :-)

The castle of Estoril is outstanding. Haha, tourism offices may not always give you all the information that you require! Student job, sometimes! It might be named Fort da Cruz but I am not sure. Great travelogues, especially for dinner!

Nice page! Estoril sounds very inviting---nice beach, good food. Also, sights to see, even if the place name is a mystery! LoL!

Another interesting VT-tour by train! I would walk along that promenade with pleasure, sunbathe on the wonderful beach and swim in the warm sea.

What's with all the relaxing? ;-) I imagine the heat might have had something to do with it! Did Hansi ka-ching, ka-ching at the casino?
