As CORDOBA was still on my list of Spanish cities to visit, Carmen (Carmela71) and Stace (Beach_dog) offered to take us there. It is about a two hour drive from Torremolinos and Malaga, up through scenic mountains and acres of olive trees.
Located in Andalucia, southern Spain, Cordoba is the capital of the Province of Cordoba. On the Guadalquivir River, this historic city was founded in ancient Roman times. During the Arab domination ( 711 to 1263 ) Cordoba was the artistic and cultural center of the "Al-Andalus" Empire and was the thriving capital of the Western Caliphate that governed almost all of the Iberian Peninsula. The Islamic, Jewish and Catholic civilizations left their influences in this Andalucian city.
The Old Town has many impressive architectural reminders of these times and as you take a stroll through the historic quarters of Cordoba, you discover a beautiful network of small streets, squares and whitewashed houses with their colourful courtyards, all arranged around the Mezquita and El Alcazar.
So come along with me and Hansi, as we explore this wonderful city of Cordoba

Lori, and outstanding page about a city I love dearly! Your photos were excellent! I would have loved to have seen Cordoba with the flowers in full bloom in the patios! The Alcazar, when i was there, was still being renovated/excavated so it wasn't as enjoyable as I had expected. To me the architecture and the wonderful details were just amazing.
Yes, I really enjoyed Cordoba also and we were fortunate to have had a beautiful sunny day and clear blue skies in February. I was also happy to spend the day with our dear friends.
I agree with evaanna! The architecture is fantastic! Another beautiful page!
Excellent page on this wonderful city. Loved the architecture but also the gardens and the river. Wish I could visit it someday.
The history and culture you captured well. Great pictures and comments with detail to make it meaningful. Thank you for the tour.
Hi Lori! Spain is one of my dream destinations in the world and Cordoba is one of my dream destinations in Spain. Your tips justify why it is a dream. Many warm greetings from Ankara, Pinar
The Salmorejo looks very good...very nice pages and yes, we are having a great time here in New Mexico right now...just went swimming, Norman :)
What a wonderful all-round experience you had.
Lori, another excellent page of yours. Cordoba seems to be an interesting place, due to its multicultural history. Have a lovely weekend.
Sounds like you hade a nice day in Cordoba with Carmen and Stace! The Mezquita Cathedral looks impressive!
Hello Lori, you will agree with me that the mezquita-cathedral is one of the "wonders of the world". Beautiful photos. Makes me want to return.
