Sitting 2000 feet above sea level, at the foot of the Sierra Nevada Mountains GRANADA is a city full of romance and was the last stronghold of Moorish Spain. Divided by the River Darro, Granada itself sits on two hill tops, the Alhambra and the Albaicin, the city's oldest area with its Moorish architecture. The city's location make it a wonderful place to visit.
In Spanish, granada means pomegranate and this fruit is the symbol of the city.
One of the buildings making up the Nasrid Palaces is the beautiful "EL PARTAL" with its reflecting pool.
From the Tower of the Alcazar "Torre de la Vela", you will see wonderful views of the Sierra Nevada Mountains.
- Pros:Absolutely loved it here
- Cons:Probably needed more than a day

I see that you fell in love with this place like I did! I was just awestruck by the details, the harmony of the place. I would have loved to have had water in the fountains that would have given it the calming effect the designers originally wanted. One of the most beautiful places I've ever seen. Well done!
Thanks Val. Pleased that you enjoyed reading my Granada pages. It certainly is a magical place. It was the very first major Spanish city that we visited and tho hard to believe, it is already eight years ago.
Granada seems to be a wonderful tourist destination especially with the charm and elegance of the palaces at Alhambra. Albaicin indeed is a lovely quarter to visit. ~ho & pang
Alhambra looks lovely! I wanted to go there for a long time and hope I will one day. Sounds great to wander around the narrow streets of Granada!
Good page on Granada. I would love to see thee the Moorish Architecture. Alahambra looks fascinating. Thanks
Thanks for visiting my Big Sur page. Looks like you had a gr8 time in Spain with VT mates. I love the lion fountain & I hope to some day visit the ALHAMBRA ! Fantastic job
Really wonderful place worth a visit for certain! Thanks Lori for refreshing sweet memories. Enjoyable page!
Lovely page Lori and the Alhambra looks so fantastic!! I am dreaming of a visit to the south of Spain at the moment and the Alhambra is on the top of the list! I don't know if it will be reality, but it is nice to dream about when in snowy Sweden :-)))
Hi Lori. What a gorgeous little page here with superb photos! I really enjoyed reading about your trip. Thanks for sharing :-) Greetings from Dubai / Jess
The Alhambra looks absolutely stunning. I love the ornamented walls but am not sure if I would recognise the animals as lions if you hadn't told us. Beautiful pictures and, judging from your clothes, it wasn't even too hot there.
Wonderful pages about this fantastic part of Spain. You made me wish to go there as soon as possible.
