NERJA | Overlooking the Mediterranean |
Wednesday, March 21, 2001 We had heard that the upcoming place to be was NERJA , a beautiful, genuinely Spanish small town, with a population of about 20,000. Built on a ledge, it offers a splendid view of the dramatic mountain range Sierra Almijara and varied surroundings so typical of the area. Also not far from the town are the Nerja Caves or Cueva de Nerja - very much worth visiting. Nerja was called Narixa -- rich with water -- and exotic fruits such as chirimoya, kiwi and avocado are grown here. Known as the "Balcony of Europe" Nerja is located 52 kilometres east of Malaga. Update: Saturday, January 26, 2008 Revisited Nerja, this time with our good friends Carmen, Stace, Sandra and Isa. While there we visited with Placido, a good friend of theirs who lives in Nerja. |

esscee Sat Apr 26, 2008 20:33 UTC Far better places to have Tapas than this place. Last time I dared enter full of English YaYas who don`t know a tapa from a Tutu. Drinking pints of Stella | traveldave Tue Mar 25, 2008 14:18 UTC Looks like a beautiful town, situated on the cliff like that. And the cave would be great to visit--I've never been in a large cave like that before. | Dabs Sun Mar 16, 2008 00:43 UTC I've always wanted to visit Nerja but can't ever seem to get there, thanks for the look! | Kuznetsov_Sergey Wed Mar 5, 2008 16:46 UTC I would like to have a look at that magnificent promenade along the edge of a towering cliff! Thanks Lori for sharing! Suppose it wasn't very hot during your stay there... |
