Hans and I absolutely loved this place. The hotel staff were friendly, always smiling and very helpful when we needed some information. The hotel was always buzzing with activity as there was so much to do there. The service was impeccable. The complex consisted of 170 apartments, where we were and the main hotel. There was 2 outdoor swimming pools and an indoor heated pool, 2 coffee shops, disco, T.V. room, card room ,tennis court and entertainment lounge where there was nightly entertainment.
Unique Qualities: Our cozy little apartment consisted of a balcony overlooking one of the two outdoor swimming pools, kitchenette , refrigerator, 2 electric burners , microwave and all the utensils needed to make your own meals. It had a double bed and the closets had plenty of space to put your things. Also there was a small eating and sitting area with T.V.

Situated on the sea front, across the road from the Playamar Beach is the SOL PRINCIPE HOTEL. I liked the location as it is near the end of the hotel zone and much quieter than the areas west of it.
Unique Qualities: Facilities include 623 hotel rooms. On the premises are three swimming pools - two outdoor and one indoor. There is also a huge dining area, coffe shops. lounge and entertainment room for the nightly shows. The rooms consist of 2 twin beds, satellite TV, full bathroom and balcony. Buffet breakfast daily included. Dinner plans also available. In our apartment there was a list of prices for the meals: One Buffet breakfast 7.50 Euros Special price for 10 breakfasts 68.50 Euros Lunch or Dinner Buffet 14.75 Euros Special price for 10 meals 130.00 Euros

February 5, 6 & 7, 1996 As Hans and I were vacationing in Portugal, we wanted to visit the Costa del Sol for a few days. We decided upon Torremolinos, as Hans remembered it as being a wonderful beach town. We looked around for accommodations and decided upon the HOTEL PALOMAS which was situated 200 metres from the beach in the lovely part of Carhuela.
Unique Qualities: The Palomas complex, which consist of the hotel and apartments, is located 10 minutes from the centre of Torremolinos. The Hotel has 303 rooms with full bathroom, and the majority of them have a terrace. The 46 apartments also have a lounge, refrigerator and kitchenette. The complex has 2 adult swimming pools , one of which has a section for children and the other one is heated. Lounge, TV and games room, conference room and Sauna.

As our usual Sol Principito Apartments were not available as they were being renovated, I looked for apartments that were in the same vicinity and remembered APARTAMENTOS BAJONDILLO was not too far away and on the Paseo. We booked using Booking.com which is an excellent website by the way. We paid 39 Euros per night and paid by Visa when we arrived there. I didn't know what to expect as I was quite happy at the other apartment. We had a one bedroom apartment there and at Bajondillo, we had a studio which was smaller, but has everything you need really. I think the best part is that all the apartments have a terrace and enjoy sea views. It was so nice to wake up to sunsets and hear the sound of the waves of the sea. The Apartment is located right on the beachfront, close to shops, restaurants. Another thing I loved about the place is that people have been coming back for years and years. In the evening people congregated in the Lobby Lounge and socialized. We met some very wonderful folks from all over the place. One large group of Americans was with the Grand Circle Club. They were so much fun.
Update: January 27 to February 18, 2009 Hans and I again stayed at Bajondillo for three weeks. This time we had a lovely room (#209) as our terrace overlooked the swimming pool and the sea and we had sun for most of the day. It was so nice to see the many familiar faces of folks we had met last year. Hans's sister Nel and Jean were even here for a week - awesome or what! There's no doubt in my mind, that this is "our place".
Unique Qualities: Amenities include kitchenette with refrigerator, two burner stove and all utensils ( pots, pans, dishes, cutlery, etc), complete bathroom with a wonderful shower, central heating (individual air conditioning for the summer ), satellite TV with international channels ( English - only CN and Sky News), direct telephone, safety deposit box ( 10 Euros per week), daily cleaning except Sundays, daily change of towels and twice weekly change of bed linen. Entertainment and activities are available daily. Once a week they have a Flamenco Show ( Saturdays), Movie night, Bingo night, lawn games, exercises, extensive Library (English, French, Nederland and Germany). Large outdoor swimming pool and lounges with comfy cushions.
Update: The Website below brings you to a Dutch website Arke.nl/spanje which has 48 wonderful photos of the Bajondillo Apartments which gives you an idea of what the place looks like.

jamaicajim Mon Sep 7, 2009 20:22 UTC Lori... La Paella sounds like a place we will want to go for lunch while at Bajondillo! Great location review. Jim | evaanna Thu Aug 13, 2009 17:05 UTC Sounds as if you really enjoyed your visits to Torremolinos. Loved those laid-back towns you describe in your off-the-beaten path tips, so much less touristy. Your food descriptions have made my mouth water. Excellent page with lots of useful information. | BruceDunning Wed Jul 15, 2009 01:05 UTC My first big overseas trip was to this area. Thanks for the memories and great comments/pictures | hopang Fri Apr 3, 2009 10:21 UTC Superb page on Torremolinos complete with many lovely photographs! Thanks for sharing.
