I've always wanted to see some of the CHATEAUS OF THE LOIRE VALLEY so after visiting Hans' sister who lives in France, we decided to make a side trip toward the Loire Valley and perhaps see some of them. Although many are privately owned and not accessible, we did manage to visit Chambord and Sully-Sur-Loire. Both are very unique and special.

Wonderful chateaux, but I think I prefer Le Chateau de Sully, which has more style. Must try and visit France someday.
I've been meaning to visit the Château de Chambord because my younger son used to live on the 28th floor of a high-rise building called Tour Chambord in Paris. The Château looks fascinating, and thanks for including the link to their great website!
The Loire Valley was one of the highlights of my first visit to France. Saw Chambord, Chennonceau, and a few others I can't remember.
Really, Chambord is one of the most impressive Castles at Loire. Its chimneys amused me most of all. They seemed to be little towers, but as a matter of fact played such a prosaic role! Thanks Lori for reminding this wonderful place!
I should definitely plan a long trip to this part of France that I didn't discover yet. It's so much to see there.
Nice introduction to the Loire valley, now a world heritage site! Next time, you must see a 'son et lumières' (night show) in Azay-le-Rideau, visit Villandry (castle+gardens), the 1/2 ruined Chinon castle along the Vienne, the rose gardens in Orléans, etc
Brings back great memories!!! We went honeymooning there!
I would love to see the chambord. Excellent photos and interesting reading.
Lovely pics and tips on a favorite part of France-love the chateaus! Doug
Hi Lori ! It has been a while, I hope you and Hansi are doing well : ) These pictures and descriptions are wonderful. I enjoyed the great virtual tour and I hope to see them in person someday ! Thanks for sharing!
