Located 40 km northeast of Milan, BERGAMO is a town in Lombardy, Italy,
The town has two centers "Citta Alta" - Upper city - a hilltop medieval town surrounded by 17th century defensive walls and "Citta Bassa" - Lower city - the modern center of Bergamo.
The two parts are connected by the funicular, roads and foot paths.
Bergamo is the site of this year's annual VT Meet - EURMEET.
The Main Pic was taken from the area of Largo Porta Nuova. On the right is the ATB Office and in the background is a view of Citta Alta - Upper City.
Dedicated to the Saints Bartholomew, Mark and John the Baptist, CAPELLA COLLEONI or COLLEONI CHAPEL was built 1472-1476 as the personal shrine for the famous condottiere, Bartolomeo Colleoni, a member of one of the most outstanding families of Bergamo.
The facade makes use of Tarsia and Polychrome marble decorations. Over the main portal is a rose window, flanked by two medallions portraying Julius Caesar and Trajan.
The tomb of Bartolomeo Colleoni, who died in November 1475, is in a wall facing the entrance. It is decorated with reliefs of Episodes from the Life of Christ, statues, heads of lions and an equestrian statue of the condottiero in guilded wood.

Interesting tips from your visit to Bergamo for the EuroMeet! I hope to visit Bergamo someday because it is the birthplace of the composer Gaetano Donizetti. They have a Donizetti Festival every year, but so far I haven’t been able to attend.

I would really love to attend a Euro meet one day. I have never had the possibility to take time off from work previous years, and this year I have holiday, but have booked a ticket to Ecuador.
