Pluit it's situated on d north part of jakarta.... if u wanna have some real taste of medan food, then this is d perfect place (Pluit Sakti and Muara Karang)......... it's also very close to d city, where u can find lots of small, very cheap hotels, some great museums, and historical buildings... sorry, don't have d pic....... explanation in my own page... |
Kemang Great place for clubbing...... in daytime u can visit some cool shops with handmade stuff, bookstores, and clothing shops.... and in d night, feel free to get a taste of d clubs.... if u wanna watch d football game, for example, go to Champion cafe... in d mood for some latin ambience, drop by salsa cafe, etc.......... there's also a great cafe where u are seated in small bamboo huts in open air, but i completely forgot d name |
Malls u can find at least 8 big malls all around jakarta.... for me, d favorites are: Pondok Indah Mall and Plaza Senayan..... be sure to try d tiramisu in Alessandro Nannini in Plaza Senayan (hope it's still there)
try to go during holiday seasons (Christmas, Idul Fitri, and Chinese New year), the malls are usually being decorated in a really festive way |

| Pros: | "cool places to hang out in, nice historical sites as d result of colonizations, great foods (especially when u have iron stomach, for those who don't, just lay low for a couple of days)" | | Cons: | "crowded, polluted, traffic jams, not really safe (avoid driving convertibles), high criminal rate" | | In A Nutshell: | "Different adventures every day.... certainly not boring (u don't know whether u'll still be alive d next day)" |

Yaqui Sun Oct 3, 2004 15:54 UTC Some wonderful tips you've posted here. Good job!! | expatbogor Sun Aug 1, 2004 04:20 UTC Street vendors use either tap-water or water from other sources This means you are at risk for typhoid, cholera, hepatitis etc. You need related vaccinations otherwise you will be in serious health problems. Do not drink tap-water in Indonesia! | mvtouring Tue Jul 27, 2004 14:23 UTC Thanks for the warnings, hopefully people will be more carefull in future |
