"Beautiful Hornby Island" Hornby Island by Albernfrau

Hornby Island Travel Guide: 15 reviews and 47 photos

This Island is home to the now famous Eagle Cam. Please check out my travelogue at the bottom of this page to read about the amazing "Eagleman", Benn Kramer who for 10 years fed bald eagles of Hornby Island. The travelogue and Eagle Cam are in memory of Benn who sadly passed away October 2005.

Eagles & More - Including a white sand beach

Although the white sand beach is the highlight for many people visiting this Island, as white sandy beaches are pretty rare on the West Coast of BC; it is only one of the many reasons to visit this Gulf Island. Hornby is beautiful in every way. The farmland, the people, the shops, the many beaches, the hikes, the arts & crafts. No wonder it is one of the most popular Gulf Islands!

It is a fabulous place to go camping in the summer although campsite book up fast especially the May long weekend.

Amazing! I had no idea that you had such a close connection to the [now] world famous eagle cam!

I had a very nice camping trip here a few years ago. I stayed at Heron Rocks campground at the south end of the Island. Fresh clams and oysters for the picking, and great coho salmo fishing too.
