  • A must see for most people. Personally it was too much for me. Too many things to look at, too many people, and the Mona Lisa is so tiny you can't get near it. Anyways people got mad at me on a forum when I said I didn't enjoy the Louvre but hey we all have personal opinions. I would say to definitely go but if it isn't your thing I understand. I see why people often recommend going to smaller museums. You can spend as little or as much time as you want at the Louvre. You could definitely be there for days looking at everything. I am glad I didn't wait in line (it was December) or I would have been disappointed even more.

Sorry to those who love it.

I did love the gardens outside the Louvre. Even in December it was beautiful with the fountain, the statues (amazing!) and the leaves on the paths! Tres romantique!

  • Try out all different cafes! Lots of fun but the cost of tea and coffee everywhere does add up!

  • Viewing the Champs Elysee from the Arc de Triomphe is amazing, especially at night! I could stand up there for hours and marvel at the traffic below. How there aren't accidents constantly I don't know.

Stroll down the Champs Elysee and enjoy the people watching. Lots to see. In December it was so beautiful as all the Christmas lights were up.

  • This building is so beautiful. My photos show how beautiful it is from afar and from up close. Enjoy the inside but try and whisper. Unfortunately we didn't go up the tower. I wish we did!

Les Egouts (Sewers): Take a City Sewer Tour

  • This is definitely a different type of tour. It was pretty amazing to learn about the history of the sewer development in Paris. The tour was all underground which was fun. It wasn't smelly in my opinion. No line ups for this tour.

  • The Latin Quarter is lively and has lots to look at. Tons of souvenir shops, affordable restaurants (although most have bad reps), English-language bookstores, etc.

  • Go to the Arc de Triomphe at night to enjoy all that it has to offer. First go to the top floor and enjoy the museum then head outside to enjoy the view. Many great views to enjoy:
    1) The Champs Elysee - alit with lights
    2) The Eiffel Tower - twinkling and sparkling
    3) The Traffic Below - marvel at how all those cars manage to not all crash into each other. For fun pick one car and watch it maneover into, around and out of the traffic circle

  • #1 thing to do in Paris and I understand why! I thought maybe the Eiffel Tower would be a let down because there is such hype around it but I couldn't have been more wrong! The Eiffel Tower is the greatest monument I have ever seen! It was sooooo amazing. In person it is so much larger than I thought it would be. We went all the way to the top even though I am scared of heights - looking down in the elevator was a little scary to say the least. Unfortunately we didn't get to go ice skating as the rink opened the week after we left Paris. I definitely want to go back to Paris if only to go up the Eiffel Tower again. I love the sparling lights. It is so neat to view the Tower from different locations of the city. STUNNING!

Opéra Garnier: Opera Garnier - most beautiful building

  • Opera Garnier was the most beautiful building I saw in Paris. To me it beats the castle of Versaille hands down. It has much more intrictate design; each room is different; it is elegant without being too showy; not too busy. I was in awe. The detail is incredible. The tour is well done.

Great Paris tips! I'm going in December and I will definitely be coming back here before I go for some tips on where to go. I can't wait to see where Amelie worked! I definitely am going to enjoy some crème brulée.

Great! One typo error: Creme Broulee shoud be crème brulée :) I love the "fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulin" movie too :)
