    • About 60km outside Hanoi Ba Vi national park and mountains is a great day trip. Group of us did it on motorbikes driving right to the top , my bike struggled somewhat on the way up. Driving through primeval rain forest through the clouds is amazing, freewheeling back down was even better. About half way up there is the ruins of a Fanciscan Monestry, and right at the top is a temple, tho my vertigo kicked in as its a bit steep right at the end.
    Athlough being above the clouds is spectacular, if you get a clear day the views of the red river delta are even more so.

    • Great thing about Hanoi is the streets, living in hot and sticky Saigon means I rarely walk anywhere. But Hanoi in the cool autumn and early winter months is perfect. Life happens on the street here, early morning exercise all over the city, small pavement stalls selling tea or Bia Hoi, couple cuddling on motorbikes around the lakes. Get out of the old quarter and hit the streets, this is where you can find the real Hanoi.
