McCall with a permanent (year round) population of 2000 hosted the 2008 Masters World Cup Cross Country Ski Races. Some 1223 competitors from 23 countries from Australia to the Ukraine and of course a bunch from North America converged on McCall for the week long event.
The races venue was Ponderosa State Park on a penninsula into Payette Lake. Ponderosa is on the outskirts of McCall.
Other groomed and track-set ski areas nearby include: Bear Basin, The Activity Barn, Jug Mountain, and Tamarack.
Multi-cultural resturant opportunities include American, Japanese, Chinese, Italian, and Mexican, with a Brew Pub thrown in.
A nice place to spend a winter week. |
