Crowthorne High St - This sums up Crowthorne perfe

This page is currently under construction. Well it was, but that first sentence kind of sums up Crowthorne. Who ever is responsible for the town planning in Crowthorne deserves to be shot. Whatever character central Crowthorne had is being rapidly eroded by horrendous planning decisions. Any chance to bulldoze a nice house is taken, and soulless apartments are springing up at a rate of knots in their place. This even goes for the High Street. Another dodgy planning decision was to demolish a garage and build a Lidl Supermarket in its place. Have they got no pride? There is already one perfectly good supermarket on the High Street. Who needs one of the most down-market supermarkets in exstence on the High Street?

For me the picture here sums up Crowthorne perfectly. Slash and burn and destroy the Town Centre, and it is all being done with the approval of the Town Planners.

Pros:Small sleepy village in Berkshire, near Broadmoor
Cons:Not much to do, appartments being built everywhere
In a nutshell:Little to do except go and see Broadmoor and visit a pub

This pub is my local, and I like it well enough. OK, so it's quiet - Crowthorne is a little more than a village, after all, but if all you want is a peaceful drink and perhaps some pub food, it's fine.

OK, I know Fawlty Towers, but I had never heard of Only Fools and Horses. Also never heard of Californian Redwood Trees in Britain. Nor was I aware of Broadmoor Hospital. So this page has been very useful for my remedial education about the U.K.
