The Savoy Hotel was sold in January 2005, so changes may be afoot rather soon. It has been bought by the same group who own Claridges Hotel (another VERY upmarket hotel in London). It is one of THE hotels to stay in in London. The hotel itself is slightly recessed from The Strand (The Strand is the name of a road leading away from Trafalgar Square). This means it is in the middle of the West End theatre district, so if you are going to London to visit the theatre and have money to burn, The Savoy is a good place to choose. There are some great views of the river Thames., and some of the rooms really are pretty exceptional.

This is another one of Londons flashy hotels. It is not cheap, but you should not be disappointed here! A lot of the rooms have plasma screen TVs and have music and video on demand. The showers are pretty good too with a shower tower that has both shower and body jets. There is also climate-controlled air-conditioning·
Unique Qualities: If you are staying in the hotel, you get complimentary access to the LA Fitness Health and Leisure gym. It offers lots of exercise classes as well as a Jacuzzi, sauna, steam rooms and big gym. There is also a swimming pool. This hotel is near the theatre district, so is a good place to stay if you are planning to take in several shows and have the cash to splash.

My personal opinion is that if you want to be bang in the middle of most of the tourist sites, then you can't go too far wrong with this hotel. It is a few minutes walk from Whitehall/Downing Street, Horseguards Parade, St James' Park, Trafalgar Square. Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament, Leicester Square and Piccadilly Circus are all not much further too. It is right next to Charing Cross train and Undeground stations so it is well connected too. This is not the greatest hotel in London, but is not bad, and the location is hard to beat.
