Louvre: Louvre visit

we visited the Louvre on the first Sunday of the month, which is free for all. needless to say it was packed with people. even so, visiting the Louvre is a special museum experience. the museum is so huge it's not something you can take in all in one day. i suggest devoting the most amount of time to the art or period that interests you more than others. also, i suggest picking an audio tour guide. i find them to be very helpful and full of information no mattre what museum i go to. last tip - after waiting to see la Gianconda (Mona Lisa) be sure to step out into the grand gallery and see the other DaVinci's, especially John the Baptist - it's my favorite masterpiece by Leonardo.

I've been to Paris twice and each time stayed in Montemartre. i highly suggest renting an apartment in this district during your stay in Paris. there are so many wonderful shops where you can buy bread and cheese and meats and wine to enjoy at "home". for me Paris is all about food, and Montemartre has some super cafes and restaurants.

definately one of my favorite museums in Paris, because the grounds are beautiful and i love Rodin. if you like sculpture it is impossible to miss the Musee Rodin in Paris!

the Eiffel Tower is that big metal thing near the river. if you have a hard time finding it just wait for the evening time when it may be a little easier to see.

you can't visit Paris without taking some time to relax in a cafe. whether it's a famous spot or not, intrinsic to the Parisian way of life is to linger in a cafe and savor your time.

for me, Notre Dame is a great visit just to see the light inside the church. at any time the interiors are beautiful to view, but the early morning and evenings always have the best light (it has to do with the angle of the horizon to the sun). anyway, light a candle in remembrance to someone you love and enjoy your visit to Notre Dame!
