Alappuzha is one of the most important torurist centres in Kerala. This coastal town has long beach and surronded by number of canals and lakes. The largest Vembabanad Lake and Kayankulam Lake are ideal for back waters touring and transport. Alappuzha is also famous for its spectacular annul event, the Nehru Trophy Boat Race. It is centre for coir and carpet industries.

Nearest Airport is at Kochi and connected by daily flights to all imoportant cities.
Rail - Alappuzha is connected by rail with state captial and other parts of the state.
Road - National Highway No.47 (NH47) is passing through this city and easily accessible from all parts of of the country.
