We have been going to Playa del Carmen for the past five years during April vacation.It was an easy spot to return to with three children. Prices in Mexico are good, people are friendly, resorts are immaculate. It was nice to return to a place that you were already adjusted to. We always do the all inclusive as with a family is great. I think it is the only way to go. All your food, drinks, entertainment, etc. are included. There is no catch. We pay nothing when we go other than tipping our servers or things that are purchased. The town of Playa is a great shopping experience. Very funky, cheap and lots of fun to walk through. Safe but you will be shouted to by many Mexicans either to sell you something or because you are a woman. Nothing hostile or scary. JUST IGNORE IT. It is from all my accounts harmless. Even the children get used to it. I love this place.......
