First I must tell you that Turkey is a very beautiful country and has something to offer to every tourist – whether you like to hang out in a mega polis, enjoy the wilderness or just want to relax by the beach. Bodrum is for those who just want to lay by the beach, enjoy the sun and go crazy at night! If you’re looking for history and sightseeing, Bodrum is still THA place – it is near Ephesus, Pamukkale and other historical places. Its voice coming from the southwestern part of Turkey, Bodrum’s song is accompanied by the Aegean Sea. |
| | Though I’ve never been to Greece, Bodrum reminded me of a small Greek town. It’s a white and blue city – no one is allowed to build anything above two floors and paint it any other color but white. And of course there is the blue sea – the perfect combination! There are many cafes, restaurants, night clubs and shops on one side of the promenade and chaise-lounges on the other. Quaint narrow streets are full of street vendors and small shops that sell fake brand name stuff. You’ll be surprised but sometimes the fake is even better than the real stuff and I mean the quality, let alone the price. Right by the sea Bodrum has a castle which also houses the Marine Museum. There’s marina with really nice boats on the other side of the castle. The town never goes to sleep. Almost everything is open 24 hours. It seems like no one goes to bed either. I was there with my friend Lena and we never even wanted to go back to the hotel to get some rest – there was just too much happening! Night clubs are the best! |
The people Turkish people are actually very nice and friendly. In Bodrum almost all the locals speak English and have learned how to deal with tourists. Of course they like to ask for your name and where you came from. And they like to talk a lot so if you’re in a hurry, politely excuse yourself and keep going. I noticed Turkish men like blonde women, so if you’re a blondie – beware ;-) The waiting staff usually consists of men – just like in most of the Muslim countries. | | |
