Rio, my Rio… You are so beautiful, you are so full of life, you are so delicious, you are so vibrant, oh and you are so happy! Why did I take so long to get to you? I guess I had to see many different cities and towns to truly appreciate your breath-taking beauty ;-)
Brazil had become number 1 on my wish list long time ago and it took me awhile to get there, but it was so worth the wait! What they say is true – there is a right time for everything. Although I think there is never bad time for traveling, I went to Brazil in October – beginning of summer there ;-) The weather was perfect… there were also rains once in awhile, which made the country even more magical. Of course it also got me scared that I wasn’t gonna be able to see Christ the Redeemer or the Sugar Loaf because of all the clouds but The Almighty made me a nice present on my birthday and gave back the sun :) I enjoyed every moment spent in Rio de Janeiro, the January River… nothing reminded me of January there but everything reminded how beautiful life is!
People! Probably it was the people in Brazil that made me love the country so much, besides its amazing beauty of course ;-) I have never met happier, friendlier and more hospitable people! They didn’t stop surprising me with how wonderful and sincere they were. I thought it must be the sun there :) I guess the sun makes people happier. It seemed as if no problems in life could affect them or take away their happiness. And no, I was not high, nor were the people I met everywhere I went ;-) I was warned by many in advance to be careful, to watch out, and not to wear expensive watch or jewellery and I didn’t. But then again, I never felt threatened the whole time I was there or saw any robberies happening. I had definitely seen more in Europe, but I had never received so many forewarnings either.
Well what can I say about the food? Coming from Azerbaijan, I have a right to be picky about food because Azerbajani cuisine is one of the best in the world! Well I was amazed how good the food was in Brazil. I guess I shouldn't have expected anything else... I mean everything else was great, why shouldn't the food be? And I ate the most delicious fruits, the ones I had never even heard of and now can't remember their names ;-) I loved the fact that there was a fruit stand on every corner and you could get freshly squeezed juice out of almost any fruit! The best one was pineapple with mint and of course there is no substitute for aqua di coco while tanning at the Ipanema beach...
- Pros:The best of everything is there!
- Cons:they say there's much crime
- In a nutshell:Don't say you've traveled unless you've been to Brazil

Minai, Yours is a wonderful take on the charms & beauty of Brazil-thank you for your insights-Brazil is on my "want" list-hope to visit for their incredible jazz music rhythms, great cuisine & exuberance of the colorful outgoing happy people. Doug
