Riverside town

Well, obviously it's by the river - it's Henley 'on Thames', after all. But Henley makes the most of its riverside location.

The Royal Regatta

The Regatta takes place in early July.

Be warned - prices in the restaurants go up for the Regatta (or at least special offer menus are withdrawn). Henley is part of the 'season' of English summer events enjoyed by the well-to-do. To get a flavour of the Regatta without the crowds, visit a day or two before, when you can see the teams practising.

Walk the towpath

There is a public footpath along the river bank. It's interesting to take a walk during the Regatta preparations.
