This is the only Central Station of Amsterdam located in central Amsterdam. From the Schiphol-airport it's a peace of cake ... going into the very centre of A'dam. Meeting your friends, or having them behind ...
At least every hour there is a connexion to: The Hage, Rotterdam, Utrecht, Antwerp, Brussels. This beautiful neo Renaissance train station was built by P.J.H. Cuypers, who also designed the Rijksmuseum. You can walk right into A'dam-hub and when you do, take a look back to see the beauty of this place ... Area Central Station Amsterdam

It is funny the today's "MOZES-huis" (Mozeshouse) never had been dedicated to Mozes and used to be an old church with a long history. The name was because of 2 statues of Mozes and Aaron elsewhere in this neighbourhood of the Waterlooplein. These statues still overlook the Waterlooplein as you can see on the outside.
Looking like a Roman temple in Baroque style the white Mozeshouse is not a church anymore and used now for educations. People without work may look for lessons, includes artists, art painters and other. Info available inside.

The former Town hall (by Jacob van Kampen) is now the famous Royal PALACE on the Dam Square, built on 13.659 piles. Because of the beauty of its exterior this building got world-wide well-known and is to be seen on a lot of very old photographs and paintings.
There is a lot to do around and on its square many people enjoy the area for its facilities, includes some funny "living statues" ... and ofcourse when the Queen and her family come to wave to its nationals ...

When walking down the Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal from Central Station you'll see the beautiful, reddish brick building behind the Royal Palace on the Dam Square. Once the chic post office of central Amsterdam you can enter it now for a great shop-till-drop time.
I happen to work for some Spanish fashion shoots here and we had a marvelous time with the people working in the shops inside. Great things to buy, too, so enjoy yours!!!

Nobody ever missed the National Monument in centre of Amsterdam. Not that ancient it got opened at 1956 and a lot of youngsters and some lost elderlies love to sit down for whatever. Next to shoppingmall Bijenkorf, in front of Krasnapolsky Hotel and looking at Royal Palace at Dam Square ...
Its remarkable, white phallus (form of this obelisque) symbolizes war time, and every 4th of May at exactly 20.00 hrs the Queen or other Royal members will put a garland here to commemorate the World War II and its victims, to be seen directly at TV. See the statue figures ...

This is an exciting water trip characterized by its slogan "You Choose, We Cruise". The Amsterdam Watertaxi isn't just a cab on the water, taking excellently care of its guests during the water trip (drinks, coffee and meals for own costs).
Especially for groups it is fun sailing through the canals and, get transported to the place you want to visit. We went with 7 persons for 85.00 Euro for half an hour all included! If you are in group of 44 persons you pay for the half-an-hour sail 60.00 Euro (it is about 1,50 Euro each!).

This is one of the new modern buildings in Amsterdam designed by world-famous architect Renzo Piano. The remarkable ship formed green building is named N E M O, the former NEW METROPOLIS. Its location is along the IJ-bank right on top of the entrance of the IJtunnel.
The N E M O looks quite impressive for a science centre (sailing along is great!) and is the official technology museum. It is also the meeting centre for all sort of events and has exhibition space. See the terrace built like a square looking over Amsterdam in Southerly direction!
Open from 10 am to 5 pm Entrance is 11 Euro

When you like theater and its performances and shows, the CARRE THEATRE is a must! This beautiful theatre is the most famous in Holland and used to be the one place of circus master Oscar Carre (opened at December 3rd 1887). So once a circus the theatre was used, too, for variety hall with operas, operettas, and the famous Dutch One Man Show (performance started by Toon Hermans on 6th of December 1963).
If you just want to visit the theatre not watching a show, there are guided tours every Saturday at 11.00 hrs. Entrance is 8 Euro and the guided tour includes theater life for the full 100%. Great to do! You could go by "water-taxi", see link above ...

Right in the center of Amsterdam there is the Westerkerk which is one of the oldest churches (Protestant) in Amsterdam. A very rich history goes with the Westerkerk, opened in 1631. Also the Westertoren (Tower, over 85 m. high), the bells and the carillon are famous, too. Listen to the sound every Tuesday from 12.00 to 13.00 hrs. Let you take by surprise when you visit the Westerkerk in Gothic style, its shape of a rectangle and 36 windows ...
A lot of historical persons can be named with the Westerkerk, and one of the most famous is ofcourse Dutch painter Rembrandt Van Rijn, next to Anne Frank who wrote her famous words near the church. This very day of July 15 it is 400 years ago Rembrandt was born, burried in the church. So all of Amsterdam and Holland is in the sign of Rembrandt Van Rijn, it is party-time for him!
