Get A Fish!

If you do like fishing, Scheveningen is the place to be. The North Sea still is great for sport fishing, like in summer fishing for mackerel with Rederij Vrolijk (see link). In winter time you can fish for whiting, cod- and dab-fish. Special fun is fishing close to ship-wrecks when captains drift over the place ...

When you want to take your family there are boat trips for the whole family along the coast, and some very special ones to watch the fire-works at Scheveningen. Great fun for sure!

Equipment: The fishing boats do have all needs and materials uoou may rent, or buy. Ofcourse the sport fishing along the beach is very popular, so bring your own gear like fishing-rod, lead, under-cords, baits ... donot forget the high boots ;o)

SATRIA NUSANTARA

Satria Nusantara (SN) is an active, modern and still developing sport. It combines physical aspects with mental training. In 1989 SN started in Delft, The Netherlands. It has now grown to a club with four branches in Amsterdam, The Hague, Rotterdam and Zoetermeer. The Dutch organization will be the center for spreading the sport over Europe. As initiative from the Dutch organization a brach has been established in Prague, Czecho and, also in Spain a branch has been established by the Indonesian community..

Equipment: For about 9 years I practise Satria Nusantara, the Javanese health-sport by exercises, breath-lessons and intense concentration. Because of my back doesnot function anymore as wished (my job as make-up artist longed for always same postions). The Satria Nusantara sport made me calm-down, down-to-earth and balanced the breathing. Whenever in The Hague you could watch Satria Nusantara and, when summer at the Southerly beach of Scheveningen, ZUIDERSTRAND... see info Website. Great experience!!!

City Pier-City Run Marathon

The City-Pier-City Loop/Run is an international half-marathon (10 kilometers) that takes place annually in the Hague, with around 16.000 participants (and even more) every year.

This year the sporthappening was on Saturday 19 March 2005, and next year will be at 25 March. Enjoy this City-Pier-City Run from the The Hague's centre to Scheveningen or run with them over the boulevard and the beach ...

No, I didn't participate,... just got the items collector great City-Pier-City Run T-shirt ;o)))

Equipment: Don't think too easy about this marathon and, a good warming-up is needed, watch your food, clothes and running-shoos.

When onshore combined with offshore it is rare and will not last for a long time, take a break that day at Scheveningen, the harbour and beach resort of Den Haag/The Hague.

Equipment: Kite boarding Equipment, and take care for the half-hidden artifcial piers (breakwaters), currents & rocks.

At Den Haag just follow directions Scheveningen harbour and boulevard or take the tram. Spot is close to the Northern harbour pier at the boulevard. This part of the beach is dedicated as "sports-beach". Look for De Waterreus Beach-spot where you can have a nice drink and food. Check the tide!

* Noord/North: next to the harbour wall; most of the locals surf here.
* Pier: can have nice waves; strong current!
* South/Zuid: go around the harbour if you're up Noord.
