It is said The Hague has too many shops compared to any other city in the Netherlands. A bit of overdone to say so. Well, start just enjoy the center of The Hague. When walking about Holland's most popular mall Bijenkorf you'll see the decorations created by several artists. Like the leaded windows and other decorations. The Bijenkorf-complex has 5 floors and a cellar-basement.. Architect Pieter Lodewijk Kramer (1881 - 1961) created the Bijenkorf (=Beehive) of The Hague maybe with a lot of insects in his mind ... Insects Hustling & Bustling ;-)

What To Buy: The Bijenkorf; famous and luxurious -historic and legedary. And I think every Dutch famy has visited the Beijenkorf, included me *smile* ...

Take a look at the make-up, they have great items. Find the fashion department, and open your wallet ... and have a nice view at the passers-by sipping your orange-juice, just at the corner. When visiting The Hague you cannot miss the Beijenkorf. Pay special attention to the "Drie Dolle Dwaze Dagen" (Three Mad Silly Days) somewhere in September. Beehive is then Madhouse for 3 days ...

What To Pay: Depends ... (Madhouse with bottom-prices?)

Shopping-centre Leidsenhage: The Hague - Leidschendam

During the Middle Ages the small river Vliet near Leidschendam was an important Dutch water-route, a connection between the old Rhine near Leiden and the Meuse via Voorburg, Rijswijk & Delft. The Leidschendam municipality has always been a crank to The Hague, maybe because of the rich well-to-do's built their pleasure-grounds here.

It was because of the agriculture-crisis after 1880 the market-gardens got stroke and Leidschendam turned into an grown-up sister-town. Its very nice ware-house shopping-centre Leidsenhage (roofed over!) got well-known, with about 170 shops ... and more than 3000 free-parking places.
    Take tram-line 2 & 6, bus-line 22, 39, 40 & 47

    Shopping-centre Leidsenhage

What To Buy: Next shops are downtown too but, here at Leidsenhage it is a lot more quiet and just a 15-minute drive from my place.

    Body Shop - Blokker - Albert Heijn - C&A - H&M - Cool Cat - Etos Store - Free Record Shop - Gall & Gall licensed victualler's shop - Hema - Hunkemöller - Hulshoff house-design - Levi's Store - Vroom & Dreesmann - Xenos - Banks
