That is a very nice way to enter Hongkong from the Gate Hall, HK harbour, when traveling by boat. It is via a pathway or foot bridge that is roofed over. You walk all along to the shoppings areas of Hongkong, saved from the burning sun and its heat. Don't worry you'll loose your way, there are some signs, and the first huge mall is the IFC-mall.

This is the highest point on the Hong Kong Island (552 m) and one of Hong Kong's most visited attractions. Famous for a stunning bird's-eye view if you are lucky having a clear day. Some rich bosses built their summer villa's here to escape the heat and humidity. And to avoid the dust and noise of the town ... for now the air pollution is abig problem.
Just enjoy the trip, the most spectacular cityscapes in the world, and your walk around Victoria Peak. Half the fun of visiting this place is riding the Peak tram ... for sure!

Not a temple like the famous Chinese ones but to me a beautifully quiet place is the St John's Cathedral close to the Peak Tram place. The Cathedral opened for divine service on Sunday 11th March 1849 and Hong Kong celebrated its 150th anniversary in 1999. The Cathedral is the second oldest building in Hong Kong!
Passing this church I really got touched by the beauty of the white complex. The Cathedral is worshipped for St John the Baptist. The architectural style is of a Gothic decoration, very plain and unadorned, although the Main East Window shows Jesus on the Cross outside Jerusalem. The North Windows show the story of Jesus calming the storm and, the South Windows show scenes from the life of Jesus. It is worth to visit this peaceful place ...

SLLiew Tue Jan 15, 2008 19:01 UTC Great tips of Hong Kong. Look forward to your updates soon. Cheers, SL :) | SWFC_Fan Tue Oct 9, 2007 18:29 UTC Thanks for visiting my Bangkok page, Roy. Nice tips on HK! I agree with your pros and cons of HK - the crowds and the smog in particular! However, the fantastic food and the view from the Peak (on a clear day!) make up for that! :-) | ukirsari Fri Nov 17, 2006 13:02 UTC yes, smog and haze .. claude and i criticism about these so much! since we can not get bright blue sky in the pictures, mas roy! |
