It is known average Thais do prefer to order their favourite dishes without referring to a menu at all. For Western people it is preferred to know what they eat and to order from menu in English. A pity because most of them donot order from the street vendors or the night markets. That goes with saying ... in a logical way. And not speaking Thai!

But you can taste such wonderful and delicious food in the street. Yes, yes, I AM a bit of worried, too, to get stomach aches, though sometimes ... I don't care! For 10 THB? I was so lucky, no pain, and got spoiled with this extraordinary delicious coconut drink!

Favorite Dish: Because that IS this little drink. I know the Indonesian name, it is TJENDOL, and the Suriname one, that is DAWET, but I really donot know the Thai name. It is a coconut drink, with brown palm sugar, and some green pandan stuff. NO, it is not worms or bugs or something!!! it is made of some Chinese paste. And it is heavenly! It is my favourite!!!

Street Food: PLA DUK - CATFISH

You hardly can get fish-food which contains the exquisite catfish, just because this fish belongs to the endangered species of the world! Well, it is the giant catfish that is endangered and, only a few catfish are captured in a typical season. The catfish hunters' guild is limited to natives of Ban Hat Khrai. You know catfish are able to breathe on land, ie they hold their breath and walk over land. And became the walking catfish! Catfish in food can be eaten in street vendor hawkers ... just find out for the well-done and good ones.

Favorite Dish: Pla means fish, and Pla Duk Kaeng is a catfisch curry, while Pla Duk Foo you eat the catfish prepared in a very special way. There is chilli in it, crispy garlics, shrimp paste, wild ginger, pepper, coriander seeds, cloves, galanga, salt, sugar, coconut, sweet basil leaves, even fragrant flowers go in it, I heard. And some more I didn't wrote down ...

It's served with hot steam rice, together with steamed or fresh vegetables (see pic). You can order the catfish-salat (Pla Duk ... whatever), too. I tell you, I was a bit of paranoiac to taste the catfish, we got in the street. But it is D E L I C I O U S!!! Felt a bit of guilty 'cause of the "endangered matter"... well, couldn't help it!

This is a luxury and DISCO first class!
    And... please, don't scream!!!

You can find along the road with the street hawkers and vendors some delicious snack!

Scorpions, cockroaches, beetles, grasshoppers, bees, maggots and other kind of bugs and insects of all sizes ...

I've seen it on TV and couldn't turn away my eyes. And for now it was a deja-vu like in Pattaya. I got nailed down next to mamasan insect-preparer. Thai people are brought up with this kind of food. I know! Still this is an event of great experience, with a vengeance ...

Favorite Dish: Find the vendor cart. You probably will dash over this spot, not that striking. But take a good look! And see for yourself the smashing and delicious snacks mamasan is preparing there. Deep fried scorpions and cockroaches, sweetend grasshoppers, sugared mealworms, shining beetles, fat, huge water bugs, lovely wasps and other fresh bug creepies ...

Ehm... which one is favourite? I really donot know and considered all kind of bugs and insects of all sizes aren't that bad for our stomach. We just forgot how to eat these creeps. Maybe a deep fried whatever will be ok, with the taste of a dried prawn. Though when the fluid is coming out of its stomach, dripping in your mouth ... I guess you'll gonna be sick!

It's funny, while Geoffy G. asked some about drinking a cup of coffee ...
    In Bangkok.

    :o)

Sorry guy, had to update my VT Bangkok's, so here is the only and true answer >>>

    S T A R B U C K S !!!

Favorite Dish: Ehm,... the coffee is good, like anywhere in the Starbucks around the world. Same price all over, you can have the usual drinks and try the green tea, famous in Asia ...

The food is not that tasty, sorry folks, better enjoy your cup of coffee and, just around the corner you'll find the best snacks and street food you can imagine ...

I am already an experiend bug eater. Once I got a cup of hot chocolate from a machine, took a big sip, and found a cockroach in my mouth...
