The same palm tree (Palmaceae) that have been termed the "Princes of the Vegetable Kingdom". Thanks for visiting.
MOROTAI - Intro
Nothing else I could tell about Morotai, except a trip to this palm-island has to be worth of it, if you can find the time. Last news about Morotai is that Morotai became "International Business Zone".
It was about plans of the Provincial Government of North Maluku to utilize Morotai Island as an "International Business Zone". Once Morotai was home to US troops (fighting against Japanese troops during Pacific War, 1942-1945). To support the proposed zone, the Provincial Government placed an emphasis on infrastructure development, especially on transportation and telecommunication infrastructure.
There are currently two fast ferry services which serve several cities in North Maluku province. There is also an airport which was used by US troops. (Source: Kompas Newspaper, February 20, 2004 , Regional Development Section , pp. Page 29).

I wanted to go to Morotai this year after Lebaran but I've changed plans to go to Bandaneira instead :D Halmahera, Morotai, Ternate, Tidore are still on my wish list :D
Roy, A less travelled destination. Hope you get to go home soon. Send me a postcard from there :)
Well at least it is easy to visit the virtual way. Thanks. I found a great story how the first palm tree was born...but I'm not too sure where I'll ad it. ;-). frank.
So are you going back Roy? If so, give my regards to the invisible Moro, who are also said to dwell at Air Kaca on Morotai! ;-) " O Laszlosa sadai o Honggariasa"
nice pages-very romantic! :-)
Leuk om je Molukse Morotai pagina te zien. The las sunday of august at the Full Colour festival in Emmen we had a lot of Moluccan festivities. Even nog geen foto's, m'n pc is kaduuk.
hmmm, if there's not a local conflict at Moluccas and around, I want to be there also visit Ternate and Tidore. Do you know, half of my childhood I spent at Ambon then Ommen [Netherland] :)
