Although currently residing in the US now, I still consider Zed home. After all, I did grew up there and lived there for 13 years before moving.
My family moved to Kitwe, Zambia in the Copperbelt because my father was hired by ZCCM, a copper mining company. Kitwe was essentially a mining town and during the the early 80's, the company hired expats during the 'booming' years. There was actually a sizeable Filipino community in the Copperbelt in the 70s and 80s. From what I remember, famillies lived in Kitwe, Luanshya, Chingola, Kalulushi, Chilabombwe and Ndola.
Many of the families have relocated back to the Philippines and other parts of the world after the company went through financial difficulties. In 1993, my family moved to California. |
| | One Zambia, One Nation... I have fond memories of growing up in Zambia. One of my goals in the future, is to visit again.
