On the first day in Buenos Aires and on the first walk from our B&B to the train station in Vicente Lopez we were surprised by the number of dogs we saw on the streets. Most of the times accompanied by a dog walker (or even better ‘paseadores de perros’). And they had three, four, six or even more than ten dogs with them.
Later on we saw them walking with ‘their’ dogs almost everywhere in the city, but especially in and around the parks.
Other dog walkers (or just ‘keepers’) were sitting in a park, watching the dogs, which had some space behind a fence to run and play with each other.
Our hosts of the B&B also had their ‘paseadore de perro’ and they told us that these dog walkers earn up to 100 pesos a month per dog. It is booming business in Bs As, take a look for instance on these website and you will find tens of dog walkers, just in Vicente Lopez (http://www.portaldog.com.ar/pas
eadores/Paseadores_de_perros_vte_lopez.htm)
It is for sure, if you are walking on the side walks or walkways in a park in Buenos Aires: “MIND YOUR STEPS”.
