"Serfaus - at the end of the world - 1427m altitude" Serfaus by desert_princess

I arrived in Serfaus in December 2002 from Landeck in the evening only because a guy that was in charge of the skischool in Fiss gave me a ride. There are no busses after 18h ( or was it after 17h?) in the evening - this is what I found out at the train station in Landeck. So as I was thinking how on earth should I get there, I saw this pickup car with the sticker of Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis and Ithought - "Oh ,this is my lucky chance..."
Looking on the map the distance From Landeck and Serfaus is not that big -some 10km - about 2hrs by feet. What you DON'T SEE on the map is that this a high alpine street ,with big denivelation to climb. So there I was ,sitting in the car ,already all dark outside , looking at the steep narrow road that was making sharp turns every 10-20 meters ,passing through deserted terrain ,wordering where will it take me....
We passed the Village of Fiss ,and after a right turn arrived at a sign saying "Serfaus".
"Welcome to the end of the world" - greeted me the pickup driver ....
