I don't know where was everybody , but after we arrived and found our accommodation ,somewhere after 23h ,we ventured to explore the city to get some orientation. Which of course is impossible as we figured out later. Walking through the deserted streets and crossing squares and canals of green smelly water , seeing from time to time a masked couple , like the one of a Noble lady and her servant, bearing ostrich feathers over her head, rushing somewhere to a secret masques party, we figured out we were lost. Which didn't really matter as the atmosphere was incredible and going to sleep was an option only when we were tired to death. So after walking here and there , we arrived somehow to the Rialto Bridge , and only after we crossed it I realized we were getting close to our hotel. As we arrived at the hotel by miracle ,somewhere around 2-3 am , we had to wake up the owner to let us in as the hotel doors were locked after 1h. As the cam I had back at the time was no good for night photos , I am using here the pics that Joro took with his phone...

The masks shops were my favorites... it is a great feeling to hide behind one of those pieces of art and walk the streets where people are watching you ,trying to guess what would you look without it .... I went into this mask shop without intention to buy anything ,just to look around and admire all the beautiful masks . But than I saw her - the mask of masks!!! The most beautiful one I saw !!!Tried it on and just couldn't leave it back. Had to buy it !!!

A ride on Canale Grande Taking the ferry , that is the equivalent of the metro in Venice and the only transport you can use to get from one side to the other. You will pass on the canale grande among those pieces of art , that are the facades of the buildings. You gotta be very fast in snapping the shots before they disappear and the next amazing sight crosses your eyes...

Place St Marco I gave up standing in line to enter the famous church ,so I've only seen it from the outside. Staying in one place under the pouring rain with no umbrella , was something I didn't want to endure...Venice, hope to see you again some day....

Under the rain in Plaza San Marco It didn't stop raining for the whole day - "Tempo di lupi" said the locals as we were going out of the hotel, so I choose to wear red - in helps in those cases.

These Carnaval creatures seem to have popped out of a weird dream, Moving slowly, as all of this costume must be uncomfortable to wear, making the scene even more unreal !!!! They matched perfectly the place by St Marco water walk, giving life to it..... I don't wanna imagine Venice without the Carnival - it would be incomplete... they do look impressive but spooky as well. These masked ladies were having a photo shoot session. So I hurried to take a pic. Of course I am not a professional and they were looking elsewhere, but I just thought - these are real venetian costumes. They are worth being photographed.
