Singapore - city state of contrasts

by NukeDoc - last update: Mar 2, 2005

Singapore as I see it

The Lion that doesn't roar
what can I say - it is my rice bowl ;) Singapore is a city of contrasts, old and new, modern and conservative, fast and slow, noisy and serene - all at the same time. It has been transformed into a multicultural harmony of colors, sounds, tastes, smells and touches. You can sense Singapore in all its glory - yet of all its rules and "fines". The systems are strict and imposed, an air of suffocation - BUT you can be anyone here; from conservative muslim faithful to all-night-party animal. No one bothers as long as you dont step on their toes. It is a travellers paradise with everything to offer - family holidays, nice hotels, resorts, beaches, dining, night life, prostitution, gay bars - you name it they have it. It is a workers paradize as well - especially if you are an expat. Singapore has given me the ultimate love which I treasure always
Pink Flamingos

Jurong Bird Park

One of the best kept bird zoo. It is always under construction. Dont miss the flamingo lake - it is beautiful. You can have a 1 year "friend of bords" pass and can enjoy the sunset date sipping coffee amidst the birds - very romantic. It has one of the heighest aritficial water falls tucked away in one of the largest avairies. climb up to the top for a good view
One of the floats

Chingay Parade

Every year the streets of Singapore get a flood of colors, music and dances. It is the Chingay Parade season. All ethnicities, cultures, religions, ethnicities come together and dance down the road in a ver ywell organized and well rehearsed parade. Every year the theme is different and the participation is huge.
