La Baule is nationally famous for its incredible beach. A 9 kms long bay. Postcards say its the longest beach in Europe... but, well, they are postcards and thus tell some BS sometimes. Anyway, the beach is truely amazing. Whats amazing too is how loaded the beach becomes in summer. Can add up to 100 000 people on the beach at the same time. The whole Maracana on a single beach.
Anyway, its a place I do appreciate. I went all my summers there from 1 to 14 and there is a special atmosphere there. For those who like animated places during summer, its definitely a must go. Rich parisians, local people enjoy good nightlife, tanning on the beach, watching/chatting up the pretty women... A small Saint-Tropez. More familial still.
However, La Baule is not only superficial. It has a real wild character once you leave the building constructed bay (buildings which are pretty good hopefully). La Baule is in some parts an entrance to Britanny, with its wild rocks bay 5 kilometers from the main beach. Also a good place to discover the Briton food in the creperies.
Actually, I am going to make some new posts soon to make you discover great places on this part of the Atlantic coast. |
