I will describe it as a suburb or satellite city of Ciudad del

Este.

It's actual name is now " Minga Guazú". It changed in 1990 after

the fall of the dictator Alfredo Stroessner.
I preffer this name, of course. Also for its meaning: it derive

from the Spanish (?) word "minga", which means "cooperative work

for improvement" and the Guarani word "guasu", meaning BIG. So,

it's Big Work in Community, or something like that. It has this

name because of its history, this little town was born and grew

due to labor of the Salesians of Don Bosco leaded by the priest

Guido Coronel, the former founder of the town.

The "Pa'i" (priest in Guarani) Coronel made the point of start of

the city at 20 km of the frontier with Brazil, in middles 60´s.

Known as the "Industrial Capital" of Paraguay

Thid tows host the greatest Cooperative Association in Latin

America, also the biggest Oil Industry of Paraguay: the

multinational Cargill.

In this district lies the Guarani Airport, the second of the

country after the Silvio Pettirossi Airport in Asunción, the

capital.

The Japanese Culture Centre of Alto Paraná and the Japanese School

are also located here. There are lots of German inmigrants too,

dedicated to farm and agriculture.

The Taiwan government is investing in the city, it promotes the

instalation of Parque Industrial Oriente
