This little town was the site of this year's Canadian National Bearded Collie Meet. Beardie owners from all over Canada and the US brought their Beardies to compete in conformation and obedience with each other. The location for the meet was near the highway at a conference hotel that had a large grassy area for setting up rings and grooming areas.
Orillia itself is a nice town situated near the confluence of Lake Simcoe and Lake Chinchoching. Although we didn't have time to really dig into the history of the place it appears to be an old historic town that has catered to vactationers from the Toronto area for decades and perhaps even centuries. There are lots of old brick buildings, lots of emphasis on steam train rides and boat excursions. It also seems like everyone in Canada has a summer home somewhere in the area. I only wish we had more time to really get to know the area. But then that leaves an opportunity to come back.
