Have visited Toronto three times in the last few years. The first was many years ago to attend an education conference. Next was to see Colm Wilkerson perform the lead in "Les Miserable". And the last was this month as we extended our stay enroute to a dog show in Orillia to the North.
I cannot get over how eclectic this city is. It seems like at least half of the inhabitants are ethnic minorities. And I am constantly impressed by how well the succeeding generations have been integrated into Canadian society.
And it is a beautiful and busy city. The traffic is horrific; the high rise apartments are everywhere; The tourist facilities are enticing; and the shopping is "whatever you are looking for."
On our visits we have visited the CN Tower, The Art Gallery of Ontario, had high tea at the Royal York hotel, attended stage plays in three different venues, and enjoyed some excellent dining and, of course, done some exquisite shopping.

Oh, wow, those of you born before 1950 probably remember when we used to "watch" "Sargeant Preston of the Yukon" on the radio. Every weekday at 5:00 pm I'd gather myself around the radio and envision the mighty Husky, King, leading the dog team through the snowy north chasing those pesky fur theives. The cry from Sargeant Preston, "On King, On You Huskies" still echoes in my mind.
Well, that was long ago and here we have a couple of Canada's finest in their parade uni's wowing the tourists in front of the Toronto Museum of Art.

Great Page Marty! I loved mama Mia when it came up here to Portland. Your food tips had me mouth watering. The hotel sounds devine. Joyce
What an enjoyable read about Toronto. I certainly smiled a good deal about slipping your wife's visa out before going to that one great store. Hotel sounds fabulous. Your restaurant tips were superior. Thanks for a quality page.
Great Toronto tips. Unfortunately, Mama Mia and Hairspray both (I think) have closed. To add to your tram/streetcar warning - if you are driving you must stop 15 metres behind the doors when they are open. Come back to TO for our VT Meeting Sept 23-25!
Very good tips, especially on restaurants (Bellini's Restorante sounds very interesting). Thanks for warnings :-).
Nice updates Mart, those shows sound great. I loved 'Les Miserable' as well.
