Our Initiation to the UK Bath was the first place we visited in the UK on our initial trip in 2002. We arrived at Heathrow from the US around 1400 hours and took the Heathrow Express into Paddington Station. After wandering around and learning how the train departures were posted we boarded the train for Bath. Remember, all of this is very new for us who hadn't left the US for many years, if at all. Upon arrival at Paddington we decided we had better visit the loo. Mrs. B was befuddled when she found she needed 20 pence to enter. Not having any UK change on her being she appealed to the attendent who waved her in. What a nice greeting to a foreign visitor. Her friendliness will always be remembered. Upon arriving in Bath we found our way out of the train station and decided to walk to our B&B in the Circus. With map in hand we strolled uphill, all the way, making our way, dragging our suitcases behind us to the Circus. What a wonderful sight!!! We then found our B&B on the other side and quickly retired after being awake for 24 hours. evaanna Fri Dec 29, 2006 07:00 UTC Bath is charming, isn't it? I agree with you on the local guides: ours at the Roman Baths was eloquent and amusing too. And I love traditional English soaps, a pity it's becoming harder to get them, there is just Dove everywhere. Interesting page. | Airpunk Sat Oct 15, 2005 09:30 UTC Good work, I really like your Bath page. The geocoaching sound interesting, you surely enjoyed that beautiful landscape. Will be in Bath (as well as Stonehenge and Hastings) this summer and will surely use the tips on your page! | keeweechic Sun Oct 9, 2005 15:15 UTC The walking tour sounds a good idea to get an overall idea not to mention the stories. The bahhths are fascinating. Always good to have an understanding loo attendant:-) | Callavetta Thu Jun 16, 2005 23:31 UTC My daughter just got started on geocaching. It's amazing to find out that this game is being played all around us. There are dozens right around our home! |
